Other Notes: Donor information on the quilt is that the quilt was purchased from Milah Suzanne Bissell by her cousin Eloise Sloane Buchan (Mrs. George L. Buchan, donor). The quilt was probably made by Ruth Hardgrove Sloane (b. 2/3/1785, Pennsylvania) wife of John Sloane (b. 11/3/1778). They were married June 17, 1801. John Sloane was U. S. Treasurer under President Fillmore. Their home still exists in Wooster, Ohio. Sloane was a native of York County, Pennsylvania and later moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania. He then moved on to Jefferson County, Ohio, and Columbiana County and later to Wayne County, Ohio. (See paper file for extensive genealogy and information.
