Other Notes: Quilt belonged to the family of Rose Miranda of Honolulu, Hawaii The pattern was developed to commemorate the establishment of a weekly newspaper, "The Garden Island," in 1904 in Kauai. The quilt was completed circa 1909. The quilt was given to Mr. and Mrs. Edward A Manda as a wedding gift on August 30, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii, from George H. and Rose Miranda. George Miranda had been an agent for the orchard firm of Edward Manda in Honolulu as well as a typesetter for the Honolulu Star Bulletin.
