Other Notes: This bedcover was made during the Civil War probably for the Sanitary Commission. Margaret Dodge made an identical one in silks that was sent to Abraham Lincoln in 1864.) Her son John Wood Dodge, was a miniaturist. He worked in New York until the 1840's when he moved to Tennessee and owned a large farm that produced apples.
