Other Notes: The established pattern name is Sunflower - Home Art; The pieces in the Dresden plate are pointed rather than rounded. Bess made 18 points instead of 16 in each block. The blocks are machine pieced and machine appliqued, using assorted cotton print and solid scraps on a white background. The border is made of pieces shaped the same as those in the plates. One of several quilts made by members of the Appel family, donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. HowAcquired: Donated to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum by Ella Appel of Boulder, CO.
