Now Here’s a Little Hint Just to Tease Cornerites
By Edith B Crumb
It certainly does not take Saturday long to roll around and the first thing we know we are at our letter reading and chatting time.

By now, with the holiday, far behind, many of you must have resumed your quilt making. Some of you must have quilts to finish and others must be planning to make new ones.
In buying the materials be sure that all you select are firmly woven and fast color. It does not pay to put many, many hours of fine hand work on poor materials, for quilts made of these do not launder satisfactorily and you would feel that your time has been wasted.

Perhaps you have purchased some materials which were not fast color. If so, you have learned your lesson; if not, be careful that you do not make this sad mistake.

Be sure to save all scraps of prints and plain materials (even black) which are at least two inches square.
I will not tell you why now but you are going to have an opportunity to use them-but not for a quilt.
I know you wish I would tell you just that these are to be used for; but I am not going to breathe even a little hint until the leaflet describing their use is ready and then I will put a picture in the paper and it won’t be any time before hundreds of leaflets will go out to quilt makers so that they can use up their little two- inch square scraps.
These are for something I know you will like and can always use, but it will be so different from anything you have in the same line that you will be delighted with the idea.

No matter how hard you thought you could never guess what this is, so don’t worry but just keep sight on saving those little scraps. You’ll be sorry if you don’t.

She Makes Ru
Dear Miss Crumb; After seeing some of the beautiful quilts at The News Quilt Show I feel that I, too, would like to join the Corner. I looked for Mrs. Russell’s quilt but did not find it for my time was limited. She is from Richmond too, and I hope to make her acquaintance some time. I like to quilt and have done quilt a bit of it.
I have made four woolen quilts for the children’s beds. They are so warm and practical.
I was very much interested in the rug shown recently for I, too, make rugs out of all kinds of material. I am working on one now made of silk hose and have three others finished.

We are delighted to have another member from Richmond and I am sure you and Mrs. Russell will enjoy each other for you will both have lots of quilts to talk about and perhaps you and she will have some afternoons of pieceing and patching. I am glad to know that you went to the show but sorry that you did not have more time there.

Admired L.D. Picture
Dear Miss Crumb: I enjoyed the Quilt Show very much and was there all three days looking at the beautiful quilts and visiting with the ladies I have met through our fast growing clib. It was so nice to see Gran again and visit with her. The picture of Lazy Daisy was very natural.

You should have seen Lazy Daisy smile when she heard you liked her picture. You see, she really thinks that she is quilt beautiful and when you say she looked natural she thinks that you consider her beautiful too, so I wouldn’t think of telling her anything different.
