Autographs of families who lived in and around Sandwich, IL, and attended Sandwich Methodist Church were embroidered onto quilt as gift to their minister, Henry Christian Loeppert, who transferred to a Methodist church in Chicago in 1891. He also married Elizabeth Dieterich of Sandwich in that year and her name is on the quilt. Henry was born in Germany in 1866 and died in Chicago in 1958. Quilt was passed down to his granddaughter who gave it to the Museum.
