Elizabeth Gary was born in KY and was married to Thomas Hudson in Greene County, IL, in 1849. In the 1850 census, her mother Nancy Gary was living with them and she may have worked on this quilt. Sometime between 1860 and 1870 the couple moved to Menard Co. Elizabeth lived most of her life near Croft and is buried in the Walnut Ridge cemetery there.
