Quilter was born in KY and moved to IL in 1853 when she was married. Difficult to know if this quilt was made before or after she came to IL. It is probably the oldest of the seven in the Museum's collection that were made by her. Stuffed quilting was being done in IL in the 1850s. However, if she made this in preparation for her marriage, it was probably made in KY.
