Blocks described top left to lower right. #1 'Winding Ways' (Brackman 2764); Wheel of Mystery (Rehmel 889). 9.5 inches square. “Blade” patches are small dark blue dots on white. Set with small white cloverleaf and circle print on dark blue. Bottom corner section pieced to fit. Similar to #2, reverse setting #2 'Winding Ways' (Brackman 2764); Wheel of Mystery (Rehmel 889). 9.5” square. “Blade” patches are small white cloverleaf and circle print on dark blue. Set with small red dots on white. Similar to #1,reverse setting. #3 'Contrary Wife', variation (Brackman 1687 c); Rehmel 1360). 9.125” square. Two corner squares, center square, 4 triangles made of white floral design printed on dark blue. Set with solid white. Edges of block frayed as if it has been washed. #4 'Nine Patch with 5 Broken Dishes' patches (Brackman 1193 a; Rehmel 363). 7” square, mounted on point. Small white organic (leaf?) pattern printed over dark blue. Design varies in intensity and clarity. Bottom triangle may be from different fabric. Set with plain white fabric patches which are similar in loose weave but may be from different sources, possibly feed sacks. #5 'Star of Many Points' (Brackman 2538); Pinwheel (Rehmel 843). 9” square. Small white dots printed on medium blue. Dark blue abstract geometric/organic pattern overlaid on dotted stripe. Direction of stripe depends on cut and placement of patch. Plain white fabric with close, smooth finish, could be old sheet #6 'Sailboat' (Barton); Lost Ship (Brackman 1361; Rehmel 148). 13” square. White on medium blue striped fabric set with plain white. Direction of stripes not consistent throughout block. Varied shades of plain white pieces. #7 'Crow’s Foot',Fly , Old Crow, Pinwheel, Fan Mill, Kathy’s Ramble (Barton); Pin Wheel, Watermill, Old Crow (Brackman 1262 a); Whirligig (Rehmel 149). 9.125” square. Dark triangles are white dot and floral strip overprinted on dark blue. Direction of stripe depends on cut and placement of patch. Set triangles of small brown dot grid on dark white. Similar to #11 #8 'Big Dipper' (Brackman 1195: Rehmel 158). 8.5” square. Two fabrics, white dots on dark blue, and tan with dark blue geometric/organic design. #9 'Album Block' (Barton); Snowflake (Brackman 2880; Rehmel 621). 9.25” square. Corner blocks are small white geometric/circle print on dark blue. Right patch pieced to fit. Set with light fabric, brown leaf and geometric print on white, some dye migration from brown to white. #10 'Martha Washington Star' (Brackman 2149; Rehmel 776). 10” x 7.375”, incomplete block. White dot ground with larger dot in center of squares, printed on dark blue. “Black” dots form double line grid on white. Direction of pattern not consistent in placement of patches #11 'Pin Wheel', Water Mill, Old Crow (Brackman 1262 a); Whirligig (Rehmel 149). 2.25” square. Small white dot printed on dark blue set with plain white of various weaves. #12 'Basket' (Barton). 10” square. White floral printed on dark blue set with plain white fabric.
