4 blocks described top left to bottom right. Fabrics c. 1850's. #1 Checkerboard, Nine Patch (Brackman 1601 a). 6.75” square. Three blocks all pink on pink centers, orange and brown print corners and yellow stripe in center square of sides. Middle block has dotted fabrics in 2 squares instead of stripe. #2 Carmen’s Blocks (Brackman 1103 b). 8” square. Four patch block with two four-patches making up opposite corners to one large square. The large square is an interesting brown and white print that creates a strip and diagonal effect. The small four patches are yellow paisley and orange feather print. The yellow fabric is also in #4. #3 Checkerboard, Nine Patch (Brackman 1601 a). 6.675” square. Orange and brown stripe of circles and a stripe with an Egyptian-like pattern on white in two corners, a pink stripe with a bouquet and trailing leaves on white in the center, and a brown and white stripe in the centers squares of the sides. The white stripe has an ear of corn printed in black. Two of these squares have been pieced – one with the corn print in the opposite direction and the other with a brown on brown stripe in the opposite direction. #4 Nine Patch, Sheep Fold, Irish Chain (Brackman 2020). 7.375” square. Unequal Nine patch. Block appears as a square/bar/square on the edge surrounding a square. One block has brown diagonal print for the squares, other has brown & red stripe. Bars are yellow paisley design.
