The quiltmaker's husband helped find and purchase antique handkerchiefs while on vacation. To make this quilt, she bought 20 handerkiefs and folded and embroidered them into butterfly shapes. She attended lessons on this technique, twice in New Orleans and once in Mobile, AL.
