Learned to quilt from: Mrs. Hammel and Mrs.Edna Worley ordered patterns by mail. They met with ladies from their neighborhood and church. They lived in the country in North Louisiana until they moved to Bastrop in 1924. They continued to have quilting bees with ladies in Bast They made quilts for use and some for "good" for Mrs. Worley's 3 boys and their families. They quilted many more for and with ladies for fellowship.

Mrs. Hammel was the main maker of quilts and Mrs. Worley helped her.
