Learned to quilt from: Allie Hammock Griffin learned to quilt from her mother Alice Hammock, who was born in Tulsa, OK on an Indian reservation. Alice and her brother left Tulsa and went to Geogia. She moved to Monroe LA and met George Hammock. They made their home around D Allie liked to change patterns and would cut them out of magazines like Good Housekeeping. She like to give quilts away. She had a steamstress daughter who liked to card cotton as a hobby.
Major influences on quiltmaking?
Alice taught Allie the basics of quilting, and then Allie learned some from other women in the Red Circle Club at each other's houses.
