The quiltmaker, an early widow, made quilts as a way to add income. Her quilts were frequently given as wedding gifts; Mr. Clifton Guidry, then the assessor of Acadia Parish, gave this quilt to Marjorie Thompson in 1936 when she married. Majorie had worked for Mr. Guidry for two years.
