Cotton fabrics, some hand painted by the artist; cotton batting
The maker describes this work as follows:
A large leaf falls like a reverse shadow from a small poplar tree on the horizon, buffeted by a windy sky. The leaf is shaped like its tree. The green veins in the leaf flow from the turquoise rivers of the landscape around it. In these ways, I hope to connote the interconnectedness of the environment, as well as to suggest the withstanding of adversity.
