Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
Marsha MacDowell and Kurt Dewhurst bought this quilt while driving up north. From their fieldwork notes: We stopped at the Intersection of US27 and I75 where there was a display of quilts thrown over fencing and several Amish women seated on the ground in front quilting. A horse and buggy were parked nearby... More remarkably, while we were there we saw a Hmong-looking woman and her husband come up and start listening to our conversation with Amanda (Troyer). They also were looking closely at the stitching in the quilts. After we finished our purchase, the woman asked Amanda if she quilted tops that other people appliqued. Needless to say at that point I asked her is she was Hmong. Turned out the Yer Thor and her husband, Xeng Thor, had heard ther were Amish around Clare and had driven up to try and find some women who could quilt the floral applique (non-Hmong design) quilt tops that Yer Thor was making. Yer said that she has been unable to find many people to purchase her Hmond design applique and so she has been turning to doing non-Hmong design applique quilt tops which she has found Amish quilters in Shipshewanna and Ohio to quilt for her.
