Representing all 16 of Muskegon County's townships, The quilt is the brainchild of Toni Porter, a former Muskegon Township board member. Judy Clarke, the quilt designer, alloted each township three squares to feature the natural resources, businesses, industries, public services and people that make each community special. "Everywhere you go, there are different features." said Toni Porter. "Where else can you live with such diversity?" Completion of the quilt took nine months. After each township turned in their squares, a committee of eight women began stitching it together.
