Patterns for story book quilts were designed in the 1940s by Marion Newton. At an exhibition at the New England Quilt Museum in 1997, I purchased the pattern. A lot was missing in the pattern, I realized after reading the original Grimm's Fairy Tale. My friend, Ann Kelly drew the large gingerbread house and inked the faces on the characters for me.
