Catlogue clipping reads: 2332 PRESIDENT'S WREATH/VINE APPLIQUE, ca. 1850-60, Lake Winnipessaukee, NH; 104" x 85"; 20 off-white blocks of solid green wreaths have 4 turkey red roses with yellow centers and rose buds and leaves, with a single rose in the center of the wreath; curving green vine border has red roses and buds; white braid binding; dense 10-12 stitches/inch quilting: outline appliques, tiny 3/8" inside wreaths, close diagonal lines over field and border; excellent condition; collector quality; this incredible example of 19th century stitchery and sophisticated design provides inspiration and awe!
