Essay:
Cuesta said of the quilt,
[This was] designed and made by Hazel Carter as a surprise for me at the time of my induction into the Quilter's Hall of Fame. Prior to this I had found an early quilt pattern called "Hazel's Choice," and sent it to Hazel Carter to ask if she knew there was an early quilt pattern named for her. It was a kind of joke because that pattern was published before Hazel was born! Meanwhile, Hazel designed and made this quilt that she called "Cuesta's Choice." When she presented it to me at my induction, I was truly surprised, happy, and honored to have an original design named for me.
