In folklore class, which I taught, we studied many crafts of pioneers. Each student had to do one for credit but we decided to do this group one. It was done in 1975 with the BiCentennial Exhibit at Museum.

Mountians, moons, and background in block were left over fabric from my two daughters (Debra and Andra) dresses which I had made for them through the year. Fabrics purchased at Penney's.

Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:

It was quite a task, but very rewarding to work with high school boys and girls to make this. I think there were 49 as some students made two blocks - but everyone participated. Imagine if you will, the grubby hands of a boy coming from Auto Mechanics on beginning remarks like, "This is sissy stuff!" or how do I thread a needle. Everyone learned the blanket (or button hole stitch) and an embroidery stitch.
