Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:

Made with heavy dark fabric and colors. The pieces are sewn into large squares, then sewn together. It is secured to the back with binding all around the edges. If you use your imagination, while looking at all the different colors and textures, you can guess what article of clothing was made, leaving these scraps. Even clothing was cut up when it was not longer worn and good pieces were cut from them. If it wasn’t good for a quilt, use for a scrub rag! Seldom anything was thrown away. This is another quilt handed down from the Winegar/Young family. Since all our quilts are so old and no longer safe to wash, we can all enjoy the fruits of all the loving hand sewn labor, by displaying them so others enjoy it too. The quilt belonged to the Winegar/Young family who realized it shouldn’t be washed (because of its age) and that it would be seen by others in the museum.
