Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:
Presidents 1 through 40 are featured on this quilt, George Washington through Ronald Reagan. The extra squares are worked into the United States flag (red, white and blue floss) and United States seal (gold floss). Each square is 10 x 11 1/2” inches. Six squares across and 7 squares down. Sashings are light blue, tied with blue floss. Catherine Post said she saw this pattern advertised in the Michigan Farmer back in 1983. She bought the stamps of iron on blue ink and traced the patterns. Her sister taught her how to embroider when she was younger and she always enjoyed doing it. She was still working at Wolverine Carton when she made it. She’d come home from work and sew on it at night. It’s all machine pieced. She chose the best colors to use so it would show up well. Catherine donated it to the Museum. She was a long time member and Volunteer.
