In the four patch square, each square was tied using pearl cotton and attaching a yarn tuft 1/2" pompom. Machine stitched quilting lines in sashing appear to be done later to stabilize the disintegrated batting. It is a very utilitarian quilt and it appears that this quilt was cut from a larger quilt.
