Essay:
"Fabric, thread, and the lines and texture from quilting are so intriguing and inviting to begin with, but when you combine this form of expression with media not intended for quilts, you end up with exciting, unexpected works of art that demand attention. I enjoy using a quilted background for my paintings. The visual texture and the tactile feeling from the quilt alone is very satisfying to me, but adding the additional painted design and details adds an additional layer of visual interest. It invites further exploration and study. My brain is wired to have all these senses satisfied when I create art. With the methods and media I most love using when I create art, I have found the best of both worlds in combining both painting and quilting."
