Essay:
"The government is broken, war continues, terrorism remains a concern, and the economy is so very slow to recover. Shattered was designed to make a subtle, yet powerful statement, depicting the chaos amongst our lives today and the need to hold on to our shattered world and hope. This piece is layered according to the traditional quilt rules (3 layers), yet the pattern suggests a story or meaning, such as a painter may paint a picture. Thus, the art quilt. I chose to create this piece in fiber simply because fiber is my medium of choice; from the soft richness of silk, to the rough texture of heavy mesh."
