Essay:

"We can't seem to make diplomacy work, relying instead on action. The newspapers and magazine are filled with articles on our 21st century wars, yet we've stopped reading. It seems we only notice that which we have in our sights. Why do we bemoan war in the quilt medium? If the medium is the message, then the softness of the quilt, the comforting protectiveness associated with quilts forms the antithesis to the harsh reality of war."
