Essay:

"This is a quilt. It has the basic structure of a traditional quilt - top layer, middle layer, and back. The layers are held together with stitching. It references traditional whole cloth quilts since the whole design is formed by the stitching. This image has had previous lives as a photo, drawing, and a painting. Many of my quilts evolve from a different medium. It is working in a series, but the medium is not always the same within the series. You never know which image will have the most impact."
