Each square depicts an aspect of life and history of Upper Michigan. Blocks depict the following images: (1) Lady's Slipper flower; (2) cabin or "camp" in pine forest; (3) eight-pointed star with daisy center; (4) distlefink - Pennsylvania Dutch design; (5) recipe for pasty with steaming trapunto pasty; (6) sailboat; (7) priest - Father Jacques Marquette; (8) milk bottle building - Asselin's dairy; (9) trillium flower; (10) black pine with moon behind them; (11) the men, women, and children of the Upper Pennisula; and (12) lumberjack riding a log on a log run.
