Probably made in the South, where there was a strong sentiment that it should not secede from the Union, this quilt may express that sentiment. Eagle shield, banner with "E Pluribus Unum", stars for original 13 colonies. It was probably made in the South, because of its size. Northerners tended to use 3/4 beds. Old beds in the south were very large and very luxurious.
