Essay:

The flower basket design on this quilt has been appliqued and stuffed to create a three-dimensional effect. The top is made of solid-colored wool and silk, and the straight edges of the quilt are bound in wool tape. The quilting is a diamond pattern. All of the sewing has been done by hand, except for the machined seams.

The quilt was inherited by the Leslie's daughter, Mahala Gardner Brown, the quilt is now in the collection of the Dearborn Historical Museum.
