Essay:

Phillip and Bobbie Armstrong bought three quilts from Mr. Stanley Thorpe and his wife Murle Walters Thorpe, after they moved to a nursing home. Murle's mother was Lucy Boyd who made this crazy quilt. Lucy's mother was Ruth Elvira Boyd who made another crazy quilt in the MSU Museum collection.

From the doc. file: Photocopy of this can be found in MQP 85.1008 Phillip and Bobbie Armstrong bought three quilts from Mr. Stanley Thorpe and his wife Murle Walters Thorpe, after they moved to a nursing home. Murle's mother was Lucy Boyd who made 4853.2.3. Lucy's mother was Ruth Elvira Boyd who made 4853.2.1. Mrs. Henry Harris made 4853.2.2, but we don't know if she's related to the Thorpes. Mr. Henry Harris gave a cream barrel (4853.2.?) to Murle Thorpe as well.
