The quitler had a sense of history, a sense of family, and a sense of tradition that made making quilts important to her. She has family quilts made by her mother, grandmothers, mother-in-law and her aunts as well as herself. She shows all of them with pride.

Making quilts seems to have been a family skill and tradition. The quilt provided warmth, beauty, the center of a social time, an opportunity to creatively use left-overs, gifts for special people and a focus for pride.
