My mother always saved scraps of material from dress or apron making so I did the same. So I've been putting things together rather than tossing out. I get pieces from other sewers so have an ample supply. I like to sew and have for years. It occupies my hands and keeps me busy.

It contains the names of 30 relatives and friends. I sent the pattern and relatives and friends and they made the block and embroidered their name in it and sent it back to me.

In junior high I worked for my room and board in Guthrie, OK. A neighbor got me started on it. I striped it and put it together and quilted it. Since I lived away from relatives I had to do this all by mail. Every time I saw the names it reminded me of these people. Truly a freindship.
