Describe anything about the history of the quilt that wasn't already recorded in a previous field:
From Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, Mar/85 page 28-9. Elephant Dance, 85" x 108", designed and made by Nancy Bullerdick of Bath, Michigan, during her senior year in high school. It is Nancy's third quilt. Nancy's mother Darlene submitted the slide of this quilt with these comments: "The quilt's design consists of a tile-like composition of 38 elephants (34 of them are quilted in the outside border in parade fashion), 48 people, 29 flowers, and 16 birds made by hand piecing, applique, and embroidery. The quilt won an award as the best in its classification in needlework and the $500 Grand Award for Crafts in the 1983 Michigan Youth Talent Contest, as well as the First Place for Modern and Contemporary Quilts at the 1983 Michigan State Fair. It was also a part of the 1984 Great Lakes State Quilt Contest and Exhibit. Until Nancy began making quilts, I was sure that my making a quilt was just about the most fun I could have. Then I discovered that seeing my daughter develop into a quilter and a lover of quilts is even more fun. The sharing of our mutual love of quilts and all that includes is a bonding of the first magnitude and one that will grow throughout the years. I wish every quilter had a daughter who loves to make quilts!"
