Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:

The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: This quilt is an original design. Other techniques used include: "stuffed white work, three-dimensional leaves." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "I am not a 'purple' person, but I wanted to challenge myself to do a quilt in purple. I worked for 2 long weeks on the first quilt. My neighbor dropped by; said he didn't like it/ I was so relieved that he said that because I hated it, also. I rolled it in a ball and ended up making 'Fruit on the Vine' from the first quilt's scraps." This quilt commemorates 25th wedding anniversary. How long have you been making quilts? "1977." How did you learn to quilt? "Self-taught." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "Wanted to try for first prize - $10,000. Also, I learn a great deal from the judges comments. Judges don't know who you are, so they are very honest. Friends always say it's 'perfect.' In that way, you can't get better." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "No."
