The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: Where did you learn the pattern? "some border blocks relating to that era." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "Blues for mountains, because they look blue mornings and evenings. Color of flowers as close as possible to real flowers. Skin tone for ghost figures, blue strip in middle for Umatilla River. Tried to stay close to colors used during that era." Commemoration of local history, "Oregon Trail Celebration '93." How long have you been making quilts? "5 years." How did you learn to quilt? "My wife, her friends, and the Blue Mountain Quilt Guild." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "Public recognition for quilt guild. Enter [competitions] mostly locally." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "The difference I notice personally, wanting to accomplish more, willing to take on more challenges."
