The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: If your quilt is based on a traditional pattern or an earlier quilt, what is the name of the pattern? Where did you learn the pattern? "I used a variety of star patterns from different books, and drafted some to fit the size block I needed." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "I bought some, and then filled in with fabrics I already had." "Originally started it to enter into a contest, but when the closure date came and went without it being completed, I then added more detail work and made it better than I would have had I had to hurry to finish it in time for this contest." How long have you been making quilts? "Since about 1982" How did you learn to quilt? "Self-taught." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? "I wanted to know how my quilt would do in a competition as I'd worked on in and off for 5 years." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "No - I make my quilts as if I'm going to enter a competition so that I will do my best."
