The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: If your quilt is based on a traditional pattern or an earlier quilt, what is the name of the pattern? "This is my original design; 'Summer Glory' is second in a 4-quilt series featuring the four seasons." Other techniques used include: "Predominantly floral applique, with pieced borders." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "Printed, often shaded, fabrics that realistically portrayed the flowers, leaves, etc. of the design." How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "Approx. 25 years. Self-taught at first --have since taken workshops and subscribe to numerous quilt magazines, and have lots of books on quiltmaking." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "To share my quilt with the public. I often enter my quilts in competitive shows --several have been featured in magazines and books." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Not per se --this was one of many contests I have entered and will probably continue to do so."
