Features or notes about the quilt's appearance, materials, or construction:
The following information was supplied by the quiltmaker: If your quilt is based on a traditional pattern or an earlier quilt, what is the name of the pattern? Where did you learn the pattern? "I am an editor of quilt publications, including 'Sew Many Quilts' magazine." Other techniques used include: "painted/stenciled design on quilt label on back." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "I bought a bundle of fat quarters at our local quilt shop. I started using them to make my miniature blocks, but had to buy more as my project grew. Before it was done, I purchased over 20 yards of fabric!" How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "4 years. I took classes at our local shop and at the International Quilt Festival in Houston each fall." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "In the short time I have been quilting, I have made over 50 quilts. My sister encouraged me to enter the contest. I had hoped to win a cash prize so I could finally buy a house, but the recognition was nice too." Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Being in a quilt-related industry, I got a promotion shortly thereafter. There were several write-ups in local papers, and as a result, the Wynfrey requested to display my work in December. It boosted my self-esteem, and I now enter my quilts in competition all the time. I have won many ribbons and have had my work published."
