Photo transfers used with hand dyed fabrics by the artist." How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "I found photos of Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, taken by my husband in 1988, before the war, and thought that playing with the wonderful textures I saw in the tiles would make great patterns. I scanned the photos and manipulated them in the computer to form the images seen. Then printed them to fabric." "Statement about how the war destroys beautiful architecture." How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "Since 1971. Self taught in the 70's, but attended many workshops in the 90's to re-learn easier and more complex methods in the 90's after not quilting in the 80's." What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "I frequently enter my quilts in competition and enjoy the public recognition and prize money but the latter is secondary. I also enjoy the challenge of meeting the goals of the contest."
