The inscriptions are in the style of "The Footed Letter Scrivener" active in Southeastern Pennsylvania 1843-1860. On the dedication blocks, the inscription is outlined by a wreath. All others are underlined by a double "S" curve.

Quiltmaker was born in Germansville, Lehigh Co, PA in 1838. Her father, Abraham and her mother, Elisabeth Roth, were both born in PA of German descent. Maria's first husband was Joel Peter, and she moved to Indiana with her second husband, James Jacoby. She died in Indiana in 1913.
