The top row of the quilt is comprised of 12 half diamonds. Two of the halves together contain the name of Daniel Crane. These halves are located in the upper left and upper right corners of the quilt. The full diamonds are arranged in eleven rows, 6 of which contain 11 diamonds and 5 of which contain 10 diamonds. The bottom and two sides have a zigzag appearance because the quiltmaker left the points of the diamonds on these sides as points.
