A Canaan, NH, resident placed quilt for sale the VT Quilt Festival consignment table in 1983. Seller's name was not made public. Owner purchased the quilt at that time because it is "redwork". Surnames on quilt are still found in the NH Upper Valley region.

Some blocks contain surnames in common, especially Westfall (seven blocks). There are two men's names (6E and 6G). The center block (5D) contains only the initials M. E. W., but the letters are more ornate and may indicate the person for whom the quilt was made.
