Katherine Pagel Weaver, current owner of the quilt, received it from Clara E. Bonneville Pagel, daughter of the quilt maker, Katherine P. Bonneville. Since Katherine died in 1934, it was made shortly before her death. Possibly it was made from a kit.

Katherine Phelps Fitze was born in 1861 in Wayne Co., Pennsylvania, and maried Franics X. Bonneville (born in 1856 in New York) in June, 1879 in Westboro, Taylor County, Wisconsin. he owned two stands of timber, one on Harpers Lake near Rib Lake and the other one located three miles closer to Westboro. He logged in the winter while Katherine did the cooking for the lumber camps. They had ten children, seven of which lived to adulthood: Mary E., b.1884; Clara E., b.1885 (grandmother of present owner); Charles F., b.1887; John F., b.1888; William H., b.1891; Lawrence R., b.1894; Anna M., b.1896. Katherine and Francis lived in Westboro, WI until about 1905, when they moved to Couer d'Alene, ID, as the timber stands thinned in the Midwest. Katherine (Kate) lived in Coeru d'Alene until her death in August, 1934. She died in La Crosse, WI, while visiting her son Charles.
