Every block has a red wool tie in all four outer corners with 1 tie in the center of each side. An inner square in every block has a tie in all four corners. The ties are approx. 4 in apart and tied toward the top.

Every center square is made from red solid/plain fabric. The light and dark sides of the blocks are arranged in the Fields and Furrows setting. The interviewer evaluated the needlework as good.

Mrs. Whitney's parents lived in New Brunswick, Canada. Two of her children died at the ages of 12 and 16 from small pox.
