Red wool ties are placed in the center of every small red square (chimneys).

Quilt is backed with a red large scale striped print made of cotton. Muslin was used for foundation piecing. Blocks were sewn by hand and rows were sewn by machine. The blocks have 3 strips around the chimney.

The quilt was sent to the owner by her mother-in-law during the summer of 1988. She had been storing it in a cedar chest. The owner's husband is the great- grandson of the the quilt maker, Great-Grandmother Brown

The owner's mother-in-law remembers the quilt being used in the winter. Remaining basting lines are still in place.
