Note pinned to quilt reads: Alphabet Quilt 1999 Made by Marion Wolfe During the 1930s the Milwaukee Journal featured this alphabet quilt pattern by designer Florence LaGanke, with a different letter being printed weekly in the Shopping News section. The fabrics and block settings were to be determined by the quilt maker. A quilt made from these patterns by Carola Witte Strehlow is featured in the Wisconsin Quilt History Project's Book--Wisconsin Quilts, Stories in the Stitches. Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts board member Marion Wolfe hand pieced and hand appliqued this quilt using reproduction 1920s and 1930s fabrics.
