Thought to have been made by the donor's grandmother, Mary Polly Pillsbury Knowles, born 1796, around the time of her marriage in 1815. If the initial cross-stitiched on the back is an "M", it may be for Mary: if an "H" it may have been added later by her daughter, Hannah, born 1824.
