The perimeter of the diamond is reiterated by contiguous 3.5" strips of printed textiles; rose, rose and white, brown, tan, brown, rose and white, rose. Where the diagonal strips that make up the medallion meet each other and where they meet the border, the space is filled in by diamonds composed of two blue and two white squares.

The last member of the quilter's family to own the quilt was Martha Lee Swain [born circa 1890] from Bucks County PA. Her ancestors resided in Berks County, PA and included a Chandler. The "C" in the inscription may refer to a member of the Chandler family. Martha Lee Swain was the great granddaughter of Martha Lee of Tucker Town, NJ. The family was Quaker in both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey branches.
